A STATEMENT
Hello everyone! I’m Alexandra Tarter, the author of the two books mentioned here. Thank you so much for stopping by and taking the time to learn more about me and my work. It truly means a lot, and I can tell you’re curious, which I appreciate. I’ve always believed that writing doesn’t truly come to life without conversation. Whether it’s praise or criticism, every bit of commentary keeps the dialogue going and brings attention to the ideas I’m sharing. You’ll notice I’ve included some critical reviews of the book I wrote at just 15 and 16. Of course, there are plenty of positive ones as well, but let’s be honest—negativity tends to grab us. We’re drawn to what’s controversial, what stirs emotion. It’s part of human nature, really. I don’t know who wrote those negative reviews since they chose to remain anonymous, but honestly, a reader is a reader. I’ll admit, those comments initially upset me enough to take the book down from Barnes & Noble. But then I reminded myself: most critics didn’t write a book as a teenager. So why should I let it bother me? I’m proud of what I created at that age, and if you’re not attracting a little hate, you’re probably not doing anything bold enough to be noticed. Speaking up has always been a part of who I am. It hasn’t always been easy, and it’s definitely led me into some uncomfortable situations, but staying true to my values and expressing myself clearly is central to my purpose. And if you’re not ruffling a few feathers, you’re probably not standing for much. I truly believe those comments were driven by jealousy, and at the end of the day, I’d rather be talked about than ignored. Now, let’s talk about the other book I wrote as a teenager, at 18.
Love,
Lexi

scorpions on the horizon summary
Fresh out of school with no family to go back to, Charlotte O’Ryan leaps at the chance to spend the summer in Cairo with the enigmatic twins, Haider and Alia Al-Hatef—Egyptian royalty. One of them has owned her heart for as long as she can remember. The other? Her closest friend. It was supposed to be a summer like the ones they had as kids—reckless, carefree, untouchable. But they aren’t children anymore. When the king is murdered under mysterious circumstances, the nation is thrust into chaos. What should have been a glittering season of opulence turns into a treacherous battleground of power-hungry royals, shifting allegiances, and whispers of revolution. Suddenly, Charlotte is no longer just an outsider looking in—she’s caught in the storm, surrounded by spies, deception, and a fight for the throne that could cost her everything. With enemies lurking behind every gilded door and secrets more dangerous than she ever imagined, Charlotte must decide: Who can she trust? And more importantly—how will she survive?
